Free NSE 4 readiness assessment

5 questions, about 3 minutes. Then keep going to all 15 if you want the per-domain breakdown. Untimed. Nothing about your answers is recorded and there is nothing to sign in to.

A whole question from the bank, with the answer and the source

Not one of the questions in this check: it is from an exam domain the check does not cover, and it is reproduced here exactly as it appears in the bank.

RTG-002 · Routing · single answer

A FortiGate has several routes whose destination prefixes could match the same packet. In what order does FortiGate apply the route-selection criteria to determine the best route?

Explanation

The best route is the most specific route to the destination (longest prefix match). Only when FortiGate finds duplicate routes - multiple routes to the same destination - does it use route attributes as tiebreakers: administrative distance is the first tiebreaker, metric breaks ties, and priority breaks ties between equal-distance duplicate static routes. The remaining options invert this order: distance, metric, and priority are never compared across routes of different prefix lengths, because those routes are not duplicates and are not competing for the same routing table entry.

The assessment itself loads in place of this text. Every one of its questions carries the same written explanation and the same link to the Fortinet document it was written from.

This free check is 5 questions, with the option to continue to all 15. They are taken from a 192-question bank for the Fortinet NSE 4 FortiOS 7.6 Administrator exam. They come from 3 of that bank's exam domains (Content Inspection, Deployment and System Configuration, Firewall Policies and Authentication); the full bank covers the others as well, and its exam mode draws to the published blueprint weighting. These are not weighted that way — a set this small cannot be. Each one carries the same written explanation and the same link to the Fortinet page it was written from as the full bank does. Nothing you do here is recorded, and there is nothing to sign in to.
